It was an acknowledgement of a legend as the crowd at Wimbledon's centre court rose and applauded Roger Federer as he left the court following his quarter-final loss to Poland's Hubert Hurkacz.

Federer went down in straight sets,  6-3, 7-6 (7/4), 6-0.

Although there has been no indication of the imminent retirement of the 20-times Grand Slam winner (including eight Wimbledon titles), age is no longer on Federer's side.
