Founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, was fondly recalled on his 120th birth anniversary during a function organised at the head office of the BJP State unit at Nityaipat Chuthek today.
The function was attended by Chief Minister, N Biren; State BJP unit's president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi; Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajoaba and other party leaders who also paid floral tributes to the photo of the founder of BJP's predecessor-Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's philosophy and movement against two flags and two Constitutions theory within India and his sense of Nationalism were remarkable, said the Chief Minister while appealing to all to follow his footstep.
As a part of the birth anniversary observation programme, the State unit's president A Sharda also arranged lunch for inmates of Covid wards at RIMS and JNIMS.
Speaking at the occasion, the BJP State unit's president highlighted that the party has been actively engaged in distribution of packed foods, masks, hand sanitizers to Covid affected individuals and tree plantation drives since June 23, the death anniversary of the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee which is observed as 'Balidan Diwas'.
She also called upon all to get vaccinated at the earliest to defeat the pandemic.
