Ensure social distance, wearing masks during Bonalu celebrations, says Telangana minister

HYDERABAD: Women folks, who are visiting temples in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderbad, have to follow Covid-19 pandemic preventive measures like social distance and wearing masks, urged by the Telangana minister for Animal Husbandry, Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
Minister who reviewed arrangements at the temples, in view of Bonalu festival, which kicked off in Telangana from July 11.
Minister invited all the major departments’ officials including endowments, police, revenue, electricity, water supply and roads & buildings at Secunderabad on Wednesday.
As per decades-old tradition, first Bonum will be offered to Goddess Jagdamba situated on the hilltop of historic Golconda, marked to celebrate Bonalu festival.
According to the minister, on July 25, Bonalu will be celebrated in Ujjaini Mahakali temple in Secunderabad and on July 26 ‘Rangam’ (oracle predictions on future) will be held. Simultaneously, Bonalu will be celebrated on August 1, at Laldarwaja, Mahankali temple.
Minister Talasani asked the executive officers of temples, to follow Covid-19 ‘standard operating procedure’ (SoP) in their respective temples’ premises to follow social distance. Proper barricades system and sanitization have to ensure, for the safety of lakhs of women devotees, who are coming to offer Bonums.
