  • Local music festival Rocking the Daisies has cancelled it's 2021 edition due to the ongoing battle against the coronavirus.
  • "It has become clear that an event of our size in 2021 is not an option, and most importantly is not safe for our most important stakeholders - you, our loyal fans and supporters," a statement from organisers reads.
  • According to organisers, the event will make a comeback in October 2022.
  • Ticketholders for the 2021 festival will have the option to either request a refund or allow their tickets to roll over to the 2022 event.

On Wednesday, Rocking the Daisies organisers announced the cancellation of their 2021 event.

Though a difficult decision to make, with an official press statement marking it as a "sad day" for those involved, due to the ongoing battle against Covid-19, it was a necessary one.

This will be the second year with no Daisies, as the 2020 festival was also postponed due to the pandemic.

"From the time we announced the 15th year postponement last year, up until this very point, our team has worked tirelessly behind the scenes alongside all relevant officials, and stakeholders, in order to do everything in our power to make this year's event viable," a statement from the organisers reads.

"However, with the latest announcement of increased, stricter regulations, as well as the ongoing uncertainty of the months to come in South Africa, it has become clear that an event of our size in 2021 is not an option, and most importantly is not safe for our most important stakeholders - you, our loyal fans and supporters."

Will Rocking the Daisies return?

This is not the end for Rocking the Daisies. Organisers have promised that the event will make a comeback in October 2022.

"We have earmarked 7-9 October 2022 for Cape Town at Cloof Wine Estate and 8-9 October 2022 for Johannesburg. We will confirm this publicly when there is a little more certainty for the live music events industry in South Africa," the team shared in a list of FAQs.

Refunds

Tickets from the 2021 show will automatically roll over to 2022. However, refunds are available as well. Ticketholders can request a refund on Quicket between 12 and 31 July 2021.

Any refunds not requested during this period will automatically roll over to the 2022 event.
