Two suspects in financier murder case try to escape, shot at in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Two murder suspects, who were arrested on Monday after they tried to surrender in court, were shot at when they tried to escape from police custody on Tuesday morning.
Rowdy Mahesh, 29, of Siddapura and his associate Naveen, 28, of Adugodi — who were arrested for the murder of financier N Madan, 44, outside Banashankari temple in Jayanagar on July 2— attempted to flee when they had been taken for spot mahazar.
Harish Pandey, deputy commissioner of police (south), said the accused were taken for recovery of weapons near Nagagowdanapalya, Uttarahalli. The duo attacked sub-inspector Chandan Kale and assistant SI Laxmanachar. Jayanagar police inspector Sudarshan HV and sub-division ACP Srinivas opened fire at their legs. Both were taken to Jayanagar hospital.
On Monday, seven people, clad in advocates’ attire, were arrested when they came to surrender before the court.
