Mughal-e-azam of Indian cinema, Dilip Kumar no more

He was 98.

He was under treatment since last Wednesday at Hinduja hospital after complaining of breathlessness.

A tweet posted from the actor's official handle by family friend Faisal Farooqui read: “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip saab a few minutes ago. We come from God and we return to him.”

The news has plunged many into mourning, with countless netizens expressing shock and condoling his demise.

In his career over five decades, Dilip Kumar gave hit film like "Mughal-e-Azam", "Devdas", "Naya Daur", and "Ram Aur Shyam".

'Qila' was his last film in 1998.

The funeral to held this evening at 1700 hrs, family sources said.
