Legendary actor Dilip Kumar breathed his last at PD Hinduja hospital in Mumbai around 7.30 am on Wednesday (July 7) after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife Saira Banu.
The nation is grief-stricken with the demise of a legendary personality.
Dilip Kumar's family friend Faisal Farooqui tweeted on behalf of the family, and announced the unfortunated news.
It was also shared on the official Twitter handle of the late actor about the last rites ceremony.
"Burial today at 5:00 PM. Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai," read the tweet.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced a state funeral for the Bollywood legend.
"Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has instructed that last rites of veteran actor Dilip Kumar to be performed with full state honours," Maharashtra CM's Office said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, several B-Town celebrities, close friends and family members arrived at the legendary actor's resident in Bandra to pay their last respects.
