Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar passed away on Wednesday after a long and protracted illness. "With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return," family friend Faisal Farooqui had posted from the veteran actor's Twitter handle.



The 98 year old actor was admitted to Hinduja Hospital on June 30. As his mortal remains were taken home the Mumbai Police formed a human chain and created a passage for the ambulance to travel safely to his Bandra residence. Fans of Dilip Kumar thronged outside the hospital, where the ‘tragedy king' was admitted. He will be laid to rest at 5pm today at the Juhu Qabrastan in Santacruz, Mumbai. Social media is flooded with heartbroken fans of the legendary actor, expressing grief. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the loss of legendary actor Dilip Kumar and shared on Twitter, “Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers. RIP.”



In the last one month, the 'Mughal-e-Azam' actor has been in and out of hospitals and his family had been constantly updating fans about his health condition.
