National Investigation Agency (NIA) has moved the Gauhati high court, challenging the recent special NIA order absolving
Raijor Dal MLA from Sivasagar constituency

Krishna Gogoi said the court has not yet listed the matter for hearing.
Akhil walked out of jail after the special NIA court on July 1 absolved him of all the charges under the UAPA in a case lodged with the Chandmari police station. He walked out of jail after 18 months and 20 days.
Earlier on June 22, Akhil was acquitted on all the charges under the UAPA in a case lodged with the Chabua police station case.
Both cases against Akhil were registered in 2019Both the cases were registered in 2019 for Akhil’s alleged role in the anti-Citizenship Amendment Bill protests which caused violence at several places in the state. He was arrested on December 12, 2019. The cases were transferred to the NIA two days later.
A day after the NIA court discharged him, Akhil visited his constituency Sivasagar and met people there. He told mediapersons that the anti-CAA protest would be revived.
“We will resume the anti-CAA movement and not allow any foreigner to stay in the state,” Akhil said at Nagaon on Friday.
