After the Supreme Court and the Bombay High Court recently expressed their appreciation the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) efforts for controlling COVID-19 situation in Mumbai, now Lou Correa, a member of Congress of the United States of America, has written a letter of appreciation to BMC Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal, over the Covid-19 situation in the city.
In the letter, Lou Correa said: "On behalf of my constituent. I became aware of Commissioner lqbal Singh Chahal's great work to help fight the COVID-19 cases in India. It is always great to hear of leaders stepping up to the plate to help others, especially during these unprecedented times."
"We commend the various steps you have taken to combat COVID-19 including; Ward level war rooms, integrated hospital bed management through electronic dashboards, individual screenings by doctors at the very beginning of virus infection to prioritize treatment and hospitalization for the needy, and above all your dexterous oxygen supply management. All of the aforementioned accomplishments are hallmarks of your superb managerial skills and astute organizational efficiency rooted in your dynamism and foresight," Lou Correa added.
He further said that BMC's exceptional strategy brought the "COVID-19 positivity ratio from thirty percent in the beginning of April, down to just four percent today - which speaks volumes for your accomplishments."
Thanking Lou Correa, BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal said he felt privileged and honoured to receive a letter of appreciation and admiration. "I really feel privileged and honoured to receive this letter of appreciation & admiration yesterday from Mr Lou Correa, Democrat member, Congress of the USA, Washington (representing Santa Ana, California) for commendable & exceptional work in fight against Coronavirus pandemic," Chahal said in a statement.
Earlier, the Supreme Court lauded the efforts of Maharashtra authorities in ensuring oxygen supply to COVID patients in Mumbai and asked the Centre and the Delhi government to talk with the civic body officials of that city to learn about augmenting and managing the supply.
