Herd of Lizards Running for the Trees Compared to Scene From 'Jurassic Park'

Footage of a herd of lizards fleeing for the trees has been compared to an iconic scene from Jurassic Park.

The original blockbuster was released in 1993, and featured memorable scenes including the frill-necked dinosaur, aka the dilophosaurus, attacking Dennis Nedry as he tries to flee.

The now-familiar plot sees actor Sam Neill playing Dr. Alan Grant, who ends up fighting for his life after the dinosaurs in the park are set free.

Grant, along with Laura Dern, who plays Ellie Sattler, is one of four people invited to the novel theme park created by John Hammond, portrayed by Richard Attenborough.

Tim and Lex Murphy, Hammond's grandchildren played by Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazzello, end up in a life and death situation alongside Dern and Grant as they battle a T-Rex and velociraptors.

A notable scene sees Grant and the two children in open grasslands, as they marvel at a herd of herbivores surrounding them. "They're flocking this way," says Grant, as the gallimimus head towards the trio.

It was this imagery which popped into people's heads after a video was uploaded to Twitter, seeing a gang of lizards racing across what appears to be a golf course.

Dozens of the reptiles scatter over the greenery as they seek safety in the trees, prompting numerous people to draw comparisons with the cult classic.

The footage, captured in an unknown location, was shared to Twitter by user Cosmicray on Wednesday, where it's been shared multiple times across the platform, racking up more than 100,000 views.

However, the original film lacked attempts to convert the dinosaurs to Christianity. The voiceover jokingly asks the lizards if they have time to talk about "our lord and savior," as the camera man runs after the reptiles.

Since being shared, numerous people commented on its similarities to Jurassic Park, with Timothy Frey writing: "This is the greatest piece of film I've ever seen!!!"

Rob N Roll reckoned: "This is giving off strong Jurassic Park vibes."

Amyisquitebusy noted: "They do move in herds."

"Needs Jurassic Park music," Jarryd demanded.

While Vegan Vibed joked: "I've seen this movie."

The original movie, directed by Steven Spielberg, picked up three Oscars, and spawned a franchise.

The film was followed up by The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997; Jurassic Park III, released in 2001; Jurassic World in 2015; while the fourth instalment, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was released in 2018. A sixth movie, named Jurassic World: Dominion, is due to be released in 2022.
