Kolkata: After a fake IAS officer, Kolkata Police on Tuesday arrested Sanatan Roy Chowdhury who faked himself as a standing committee member of CBI and looted money from people.
Notably, the fake CBI officer photo with BJP leader Rudranil Ghosh and TMC Bankura leader Shymal Santra was also seen.
According to police, the man had duped several thousand rupees from an elderly woman 15 years back promising her of a job.
Incidentally, the person got arrested after he tried to sell a 10 crore rupees property in south Kolkata by faking documents.
“The owners of the house after suspecting the person had on June 30 filed a complaint at Gariahat Police Station and on Tuesday Sanatan was arrested from his residence in North Kolkata,” said police sources.
However, according to BJP leader Rudranil Ghosh he was said that Sanatan was his fan and for which he had met him as Sanatan wanted to give him flowers.
“The photo was three years old and then I was in the TMC. I can give all possible proof to show that I am not connected with that man. During the TMC era so many fake officers are gradually being exposed,” stated the actor-turned-politician.
West Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh said that by giving membership fees no one can claim that they are from the saffron camp.
It is pertinent to mention that apart from a blue beacon on top of his car, Sanatan also pasted ‘CBI’ and ‘Advocate’ stickers on his car.
Meanwhile, a woman Radharani who faked herself as a CID officer has been absconding from Krishnanagar after it was proven that she is a fake CID.
