42-year-old man rapes minor, assaults her mother for questioning him; arrested

BHIWANDI: In a shocking incident, the police on Tuesday arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly raping a neighbouring minor girl and assaulting her mother.
The accused assaulted the girl's mother with a lathi when she questioned him about the heinous crime.
The accused Rajesh (name changed to prevent identity) was arrested immediately after police registered a case against him.
The police said the victim aged 11 on Monday late night was playing near her residence when the accused who was staying in a neighbouring home forcefully took her inside and raped her.
Police said after the victim returned home late at night, she informed her mother about the incident. The shocked mother visited the accused's house to question him about the incident.
Police said instead of apologising, the accused took a lathi from his house and assaulted the victim's mother. The accused also threatened the victim's mother and asked her to not approach the police otherwise he would kill her.
After getting assaulted on Tuesday early morning at 3.30 am, the victim approached local Narpoli police. After registering an FIR, the police immediately arrested the accused under a different section of the Indian penal code.
