Former Navy cornerback Cameron Kinley will be allowed to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and attend training camp later this month.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will allow Kinley to join the Buccaneers after initially denying his attempt to delay his service requirement.

“I am extremely appreciative of Secretary Austin’s decision and I’m excited to represent our fine military in the National Football League,” Kinley said in a statement. “This past month has been very challenging and I’m thankful for everyone who has supported me in any way.”

Kinley was team captain and class president at Navy, while recording 88 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble in his four year career.
