GREATER NOIDA: A 27-year-old CISF sub-inspector deployed at
NTPC Dadri on Monday allegedly killed his 20-year-old wife over a marital dispute and was later found hanging in his room. Police said a suicide note was found.
Sub-inspector
Sujit Kumar and his wife Varsha Kiran had been staying in one of the rooms at
NTPC Dadri’s residential complex for the past few months. Both belonged to Hajipur in Bihar’s Vaishali district, police said.
On Monday, when Sujit failed to turn up for duty, his seniors tried to contact him over the phone.“When he did not answer, the seniors sent two employees to check. There was no response when they rang the doorbell either. His colleagues tried to peep inside the window and saw him hanging from a fan,” Jarcha station officer Shripal said.
He added that some senior CISF members informed Jarcha police around 1:30pm and a team was sent to the spot. When the cops broke open the door, they found the couple dead. Sujit had used a pillow to smother Varsha before ending his life, police said.
DCP (Greater Noida) Rajesh Kumar Singh said the SI had left a suicide note saying he was fed up of his wife due to a familial dispute and was killing her before taking the extreme step. “Police have informed Varsha’s family members,” he added.
Relatives and neighbours told police that the couple had got married about seven months ago, on November 8, 2020, after which they had moved to their current residence. “It was a love marriage but their relationship was strained because their families had not agreed to the match. They led to fights and both of them were dissatisfied,” the DCP said. The autopsies will be conducted on Tuesday, police said.
