Rajkot: A 52-year-old man from Amreli was fired at and beaten up by three persons including a driver employed with Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) on Monday morning. The victim’s request to the bus driver to drive safely a day before allegedly led to the attack.
According to Amreli police, Bipin Jethwa, a resident of Maninagar in Amreli, lodged a complaint against Raghu Dhandhal, a driver with GSRTC, and two others — Rajendra Gohel and Devang Bavaji. Police have booked the three accused for attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and Arms Act.
On Sunday, Jethwa, who works as a tailor, along with his family was travelling in Amreli-Somnath route bus which was being driven rashly. Jethwa asked Dhandhal to drive safely which angered the driver who threatened to kill him.
On Monday morning, Dhandhal along with Gohel and Bavaji came to Jethwa’s shop in Amreli. Dhandhal fired two rounds at Jethwa but he ducked and escaped the shooting. Later, the three accused assaulted Jethwa with an iron pipe and escaped from the spot. Jethwa was rushed to civil hospital in Amreli for treatment.
