Did you know Aamir Khan wanted Kiran Rao to do this role in 'Dhobi Ghat'?

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao recently announced their separation in a joint statement after 15 years of marriage. The duo, who first met on the sets of 'Lagaan', where Kiran was an assistant director, delivered many critically acclaimed films together like Dhobi Ghat, which was directed by Kiran along with Talaash, Secret Superstar, Dangal that were produced by her. However, it seems Aamir wanted Kiran to act on-screen as he believes that Kiran is a fantastic actress and he would love to do a film with her. In one of his old interviews, Aamir revealed that he wanted to star opposite Kiran in a full fleged film as a lead pair. He said 'It has occurred to me and I pushed her very hard for it. There was a role in Dhobi Ghat which I wanted her to do. It's the role of Yasmin. Yasmin is the girl in the videotape who my character falls in love with and gets attracted to. I used to see her reading the script and read out. Yasmin's character as she did other characters. And I thought she was just unbelievable as Yasmin.' Kiran didn't agree to do the role which finally went to Kriti Malhotra. Well, Kiran did appear for a minute long cameo in 'Dil Chahta Hai', if you have notice. Watch the video for more details.
