Centre ‘revengeful’ towards farmers: AAP

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday attacked the BJP-led central government for having a ‘revengeful’ attitude towards the farmers who are protesting at the gates of Delhi against the new farm laws.The AAP alleged that Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal replacing the public prosecutors appointed by the Delhi government with other lawyers, who more inclined on punishing the protesters rather than doing justice, is part of this attitude.

AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha claimed that a virtual meeting took place between the L-G the home minister a few days back. In that meeting, it was admitted that the Delhi government’s public prosecutors were doing a very good job and handling the cases properly. It was discussed that these cases were progressing with ease and there was no complaint against these public prosecutors. 

“Still in that meeting, the BJP-appointed Lieutenant Governor of Delhi said that they will still remove the Delhi government’s lawyers. They wish to appoint new lawyers because they want that the farmers to be punished and taught a lesson,” claimed Chadha, adding, “It was made clear that the BJP wants to harass, defame and punish the farmers. The BJP wants to teach a lesson to those protesting the Centre’s new farm laws,” added the AAP MLA. Chadha assured the farmers that the AAP stands in complete support of them.

The AAP has completely supported the farmer agitation and has been extending all kinds of help to the protestors. Delhi government’s ministers have launched attacks on the BJP-led Centre regarding the three farm bills with CM  Arvind Kejriwal demanding rollback of the new laws. The AAP is contesting elections in Punjab where this agitation commenced and could be a major issue in the upcoming polls.
