Kolkata: After West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay didn’t allow Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari to speak inside the House, the BJP MLAs walked out of the Assembly.
Talking to the media, Suvendu slammed the Speaker and said that he is behaving like a TMC cadre.
“Despite losing Mamata Banerjee had become the Chief Minister and this issue cannot be raised inside the House. But the Speaker at every reference was hinting towards my father and I had asked him not to take it but then we walked out as the ruling party was trying to choke the opposition’s voice,” said Suvendu.
The Leader of Opposition also added that he had raised three issues in the House. The first was that first time Shyama Prasad Mookherjee’s party has more than 70 legislatures, second was for the first time West Bengal Assembly has no representatives of the Left Front and the Congress and the third was despite losing Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister.
“In 1996 in Kerala even though LDF had won, Achyutananda had lost and LDF got a new Chief Minister. In Himachal Pradesh, though BJP had won but Prem Kumar Dhumal had lost for which he didn’t become the CM. in Bengal, BJP got 2 crore 28 lakh votes and one who defeated Mamata Banerjee is the LoP,” added Mamata.
Slamming the BJP, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the saffron party at a particular place had forcibly tried to win the election.
Without naming Nandigram as the matter is sub judice, Mamata alleged that BJP purposely did load-shedding there for tampering votes.
“I have seen BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh to Sushma Swaraj.... But this BJP is different and has no manners or decency. The BJP purposely had created ruckus during the Governor’s speech on July 2. This BJP is monkey without tail,” claimed Mamata.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced that the TMC will observe ‘Khela Hobe’ (Game is on) day every year and will distribute 50 thousand footballs.
“Our Khela Hobe slogan has helped us win the election and also created a mark for which we will observe a Khela Hobe day. The details will be announced soon,” added Mamata.
