Kanpur: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said here on Monday that the “country is completely safe and the Indian Army has the power to face any challenge”.
“We want to assure the countrymen that the country is completely safe. Whatever challenges come, our Army has the power to face it,” he said while talking to reporters at the Nawabganj bird sanctuary guest house in Unnao.
Regarding the recent attack on the Air Force Station in Jammu by armed drones as a ‘cowardly act’, he said, “The attackers would soon be given a befitting reply.”
The defence minister also claimed, “The way candidates supported by the BJP performed in the recently held elections of district panchayat in UP, none could stop the party from forming government again in the state in 2022.”
Later, answering to reporters in Kanpur over recent statement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat that Hindus and Muslims share same DNA, he said, “We talk of ‘Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas’ (everyone’s support, everyone’s development). BJP never talked about Hindu-Muslim.”
On the issue of religious conversions, the defence minister said whoever is guilty will not be spared. “Some people are doing politics of fear, but they won’t be able to succeed in any way,” he said.
When he was asked about the need for the third surgical strike to teach a lesson to Pakistan, he said that the Army is on alert.
Singh was addressing the media on reaching the house of his ‘guru’, Santosh Dwivedi at Harihar Dham, Shyamnagar in Chakeri area of Kanpur, where he had gone to condole the death of Dwivedi wife Mithilesh Dwivedi.
