NEW DELHI: Crude oil prices rose Rs 33 to Rs 5,720 per barrel on Tuesday as participants widened their positions on a firm spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the July delivery traded higher by Rs 33, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 5,720 per barrel in 11,352 lots.
Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in the futures trade.
Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 2.17 per cent to USD 76.79 per barrel, while Brent crude traded 0.66 per cent higher at USD 77.67 per barrel in New York.
