Rupee down 24 paise against USD

Mumbai, Jul 6 (UNI) The Rupee on Tuesday tumbled down by 24 paise to close negative at 74.54 against the USD on rising demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.
Surging 44 paise on Monday, the domestic unit moved up by three paise to 74.27 in opening trade. During the day it was dropped nearly 24 paise to finish at 74.54 as compared to its previous close.
The Rupee went down due to the strong dollar against other world currencies amid a weak equity market, dealer said.
The local unit registered days high and low at 74.58 and 74.25 respectively.
