Days after a 24-year-old Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirant Swapnil Lonkar committed suicide, the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday announced in the state assembly that all 15,511 posts lying vacant in various government departments since 2018 will be filled up through MPSC.

Pawar said of the 15,511 posts, 4,417 are in group A, 8,031 in group B and 3,0563 in group C. He informed the state assembly that the finance department has given its approval for recruitment on these posts through MPSC.

Pawar said the finance department has approved the proposals of those departments to fill up the vacancies submitted to it.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress is facing flak from opposition BJP and members of Maratha organisations for its "failure" to retain the Maratha quota.

The issue of MPSC recruitment came on the anvil following suicide by a 24-year-old aspirant in Pune over the delay in conducting the final job interview.
