New Delhi: Ahead of the possible Union Cabinet expansion, in which around 20 new faces will likely be inducted into the Modi government, President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the appointments of new Governors for as many as eight states. Following is the complete list of new governors who have been appointed. These appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.

Thaawarchand Gehlot, a Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh and the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, has been appointed as Governor of Karnataka. A Union minister being appointed as a Governor is being seen as a major hint that the Cabinet reshuffle will take place soon.

Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, a BJP leader from Gujarat, will be the Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel was holding additional charge of Madhya Pradesh Governor.

Hari Babu Kambhampati and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will be Governors of Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh respectively.

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, BJP’s leader from Goa and former Speaker, replaces Bandaru Dattatraya who has been transferred and appointed as Haryana Governor.

BJP leader from Andhra Pradesh Kambhampati succeeds P S Sreedharan Pillai, who has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Goa.

Satyadev Narayan Arya, Governor of Haryana is transferred and appointed as Governor of Tripura.

Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Jharkhand, succeeding Droupadi Murmu.
