Cincinnati police: 5 shot at Smale Riverfront Park, 16-year-old, 19-year-old killed

The Cincinnati Police department is investigating a shooting that happened at Downtown on 4th of July.

Police have identified a 16-year-old and 19-year-old killed in a July 4th shooting at Smale Park near The Banks in Cincinnati that injured three other people.

Milo Watson, 16, and Dexter Wright, Jr., 19, were each killed, said Cincinnati Police Department in a release.

Officers responded at 10:50 p.m. to 1 West Mehring Way and found three shooting victims. One of the shooting victims died at the scene, and a second person died at the University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center.

Two people have died after a mass shooting near Smale Park on 4th of July.

A third injured person found by police at the scene was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

There were two other shooting victims who, shortly after the shooting, were taken to the University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center, police said.

Mehring Way has been reopened, police said.

Two of the injured victims have minor injuries and one is in critical condition, according to police.

The blue markers show shootings that occurred between Jan. 2009 and the end of 2019, 11 years of incidents. The orange markers show the shootings that occurred between Jan. 2019 and the end of June 2021. Sunday's shootings are not shown.
