Golden Globe-nominated series Lovecraft Country will not be getting a second season at HBO.
The critically acclaimed first season starring Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett, Courtney B Vance and Michael K Williams is based on the novel by Matt Ruff, Lovecraft Country. It mixes horror, fantasy and sci-fi with the real-life horror faced by Black people in the Jim Crow era.
In a statement on Friday, HBO said: "We will not be moving forward with a second season of Lovecraft Country. We are grateful for the dedication and artistry of the gifted cast and crew, and to Misha Green, who crafted this ground-breaking series. And to the fans, thank you for joining us on this journey", reports Deadline.
Shortly after the announcement creator, Misha Green shared a taste of what they had planned for season 2.
"A taste of the Season 2 Bible. Wish we could have brought you #LovecraftCountry: Supremacy. Thank you to everyone who watched and engaged," she said.
