Picture a car modified by Novitec and it's more than likely one of the N-Largo creations . What sounds like a pill aimed at middle-aged men is actually the Novitec range of widebody kits. And when adding width to already eye-catchingly broad supercars, the end result is never likely to be unassuming. It won't so much grab the attention as wrench it away, in fact, and so the Novitec N-Largo cars tend to make quite the impression.
This is the latest, based on the Ferrari F8 Tributo. In addition to the powertrain upgrades released last year - enough for 818hp and 666lb ft - the N-Largo adds 13cm to overall width thanks to a carbon fibre bodykit. Not just any carbon kit, either, but one designed in collaboration with designer Vittorio Strosek and perfected in the wind tunnel for reduced lift at speed. Of which there is plenty: Novitec claims just 2.6 seconds to 62mph, 7.4 seconds for 124mph and a top speed of over 211mph. And you thought it was all just for show...
But, of course, the N Largo is pretty dramatic even by the standards of mid-engined Ferraris. Novitec calls the overall effect "decidedly aggressive", and draws attention to the rear ducktail, the scoop above the engine, GT-R NISMO-style wheel arch vents to cool the brakes and chunky diffuser, which houses a new exhaust. The wheels, quite incredibly, are 21-inch fronts and 22-inch rears, developed with Vossen, made to look even bigger thanks to a 35mm suspension drop. You would have to assume it won't quite ride as well as standard. But style often does requires sacrifice, doesn't it?
This being Novitec, an F8 N-Largo can be specified any which way the customer desires, from "maximum individuality" inside to body-coloured carbon fibre. There won't be many customer requests to deal with, however, a Novitec is limiting N-Largo production to just 15 cars. Of course any F8 still costs more than £200,000 and given the amount of carbon fibre involved here, a widebody Tributo won't come cheap. But what price exclusivity? Just keep away from width restrictors...
