Kolhapur, Jul 5 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday arrested a Nayab Tehsildar and a Talathi while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 75,000 from a complainant at Sajja-Itte talathi office in Ajara tehsil of the district.
The alleged accused, Rahul Pandit Bandgar (33), who was working as talathi of Sajja-Itte in Ajara tehsil and resident of Kolhapur city, had demanded Rs 1.50 lakh as bribe from complainant for transfer of his agricultural land from category II to I.
He had told him to give the bribe amount to Sanjay Shripati Elke (52), who was working as deputy accountant with additional charge of tehsildar and resident of Uttur in Ajara tehsil of the district.
Then the matter was settled at Rs 75,000, an official press release said here.
However, complainant informed about this to the city unit of ACB, whose team laid a trap at Sajja-Itte Talathi office and caught red-handed both the tehsildar and talathi with the bribe money.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at the Ajara police station in this regard, the release added.
