All 2nd PUC repeaters will be promoted with passing marks and 5% grace marks, HC told

BENGALURU: The state government on Monday informed the high court that all repeaters , including those private candidates who had failed in the last year"s 2nd PUC examination will be promoted by awarding passing marks and five percent grace marks.
As regards to fresh candidates who are being promoted without examination,the court was told that 45 percent marks each will be on the basis of their performance in SSLC and 1 year PUC and 10 percent marks will be vis-a-vis regarding 2nd PUC assessment and the results will be declared before July 31,2021 in terms of Supreme court's order.
Recording all these,a division bench headed by Justice BV Nagarathna disposed of the PIL filed by one SV Singre Gowda secretary/, managing trustee of Jnanamandira Education Trust, Bengaluru.
Petitioner had claimed that repeaters/ failed 2nd PUC candidates are being forced to write examination after the easing of Covid situation,whereas fresh candidates have been promoted without any examination,on the strength of their 1st PUC marks and the same is discriminatory.
As regards to fresh candidates who are being promoted without examination,the court was told that 45 percent marks each will be on the basis of their performance in SSLC and 1 year PUC and 10 percent marks will be vis-a-vis regarding 2nd PUC assessment and the results will be declared before July 31,2021 in terms of Supreme court's order.
On the issue of fresh private candidates,the court was told that examination will be conducted before August 31,2021 and results will be declared on or before September 20,2021.
