Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly side secured a comfortable away win over Smouha in the Egyptian Premier League to send an ominous warning to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their CAF Champions League final showdown.

The two sides will go head-to-head in a highly-anticipated clash in the prestigious continental showpiece in Morocco on 17 July.

Defending champions, Al Ahly have now sent an ominous warning that they may be finding their best form at a crucial stage of the season after securing a dominant 4-0 away win at Smouha.

In-form striker Mohamed Sherif grabbed a brace to register his 16th and 17th goal of the season in 37 appearances in all competitions.

As Hussein El Shahat and Ali Maaloul completed the scoring as Mosimane's side remained on track to defend their domestic title, after winning an incredible treble last season.

On the South African front, Kaizer Chiefs will be aiming to lift a historic CAF Champions League trophy in their first-ever campaign in the continental competition.

Having already completed the 2020/2021 PSL campaign, Chiefs will have gone over three weeks without a competitive fixture ahead of the final.

While Mosimane's side will play two more league fixtures building up to their tie against the Soweto giants.

Kick-off is at 21:00.
