MANGALURU: A social worker from Panja village in Sullia has celebrated a special occasion with a social message.
Jinnappa Gowda, 49, celebrated his silver wedding by spreading a social message through art. He got the compound wall of his house painted with different social messages, including those on protection from Covid.
Gowda said, “On the occasion of our 25th wedding anniversary, I wanted to do something special that will motivate society. So I painted the compound wall of my house on two themes with the help of Suresh, a film-set designer. One portion of the wall was on vaccination campaign along with the importance of handwashing and wearing masks. The other portion has paintings on the importance of cleanliness, water conservation, environment protection and adult education.”
Gowda and his wife Leelavathi, who run a petty shop, celebrated their wedding anniversary on June 24.
“We wanted a minister to unveil the murals. As that could not happen, we did it ourselves by offering puja on Monday,” he said.
Gowda is now into harvesting rainwater at his house. Rainwater from the rooftop is channelised to an open well. His son, Jagadeesh, works as an engineer for a private company.
