Petrol Prices Hiked By Up To 39 Paise; Nears ₹ 100/Litre Mark In Delhi And Kolkata

While petrol has become dearer by up to 39 paise, diesel has remained unchanged on Monday. With the latest hike, petrol has inched towards Rs. 100 per litre mark in Delhi and Kolkata.

The state-owned oil marketing companies on Monday increased petrol prices for the second straight day. Diesel rates were left unchanged. Fuel rates are at all-time highs across the country. In the last two months, petrol rates were increased 35 times while diesel has surged 33 times. With the latest revision, petrol is slowly inching towards ₹ 100 per litre mark in the national capital Delhi and Kolkata. In Delhi, petrol became dearer by 35 paise a litre from ₹ 99.51 a litre to ₹ 99.86 a litre. Diesel remained untouched at ₹ 89.36 a litre. At the same time, petrol rates in Kolkata stand at ₹ 99.85 per litre with a 39 paise hike, while diesel stands unchanged at ₹ 92.27 a litre.

In Mumbai, petrol has neared ₹ 106-mark as it currently retails at ₹ 105.75 a litre, while diesel continues to retail at ₹ 96.91 a litre. As for other metro cities, petrol in Chennai jumped to ₹ 100.75 a litre after a hike of 31 paise a litre. In Hyderabad and Bengaluru, petrol touched ₹ 103.78 a litre and ₹ 103.20 a litre, respectively.

Petrol retails above ₹ 100-mark in 12 states and union territories, including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Bihar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and Ladakh. Diesel on Sunday breached ₹ 100-mark in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, currently standing at ₹ 100.18 a litre while petrol has touched ₹ 110.37 a litre.

Fuel prices are the most expensive in Sri Ganganagar of Rajasthan, where petrol has breached ₹ 111-mark, currently standing at ₹ 111.14 a litre while diesel retails at ₹ 102.60 a litre. In Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur and Bhopal, petrol reached ₹ 110.73 a litre and ₹ 108.16 a litre, respectively. Customers in the Parbhani district of Maharashtra will have to pay ₹ 108.23 a litre and ₹ 97.66 a litre for petrol and diesel, respectively.
