The company is
expected to launch a new electric vehicle in India in the next two years,
according to the official from MG Motor. The price range of this EV will be
below Rs 20 Lakh.
This will be the
company’s second electric vehicle in the country after ZS SUV which is again
between Rs 21 to 24 Lakh. According to Rajeev Chaba, President, MG Motor India,
the company is pleased with the performance of its electric vehicle and is
expected to launch more such EVs in the future. He also said that the company
will come up with its second EV in the future which will be below Rs 20 Lakh in
India.
Chaba also said
that the timelines are not yet finalized because of the current Covid scenario
and shortages of the essential materials, mainly the chips. But he is hopeful
that in the coming two years, the company might launch a new variant. He also
said that the government has lowered taxes on electric vehicles and little work
needs to be done on the charging infrastructure as well.
