Amritsar: A Pakistani Hindu woman who wanted to marry a man from India who she met on Facebook has finally got a visa to travel to India.
Talking to TOI over the phone from Karachi on Saturday, Suman Rantilal informed that she and her family members had got a visa to travel to India.
TOI had in the recent past carried a story wherein Suman had appealed to the Indian government to issue a visa to her and her family members for marrying her love. “I will soon be travelling to India once travel restrictions are lifted,” she said, adding that she would arrive in India via Dubai.
Suman, a teacher in Karachi who is also pursuing an MPhil, had met Amit Sharma, a man from Sri Hangobindpur in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, and both had decided to marry after falling in love over Facebook.
A resident of Qadian in Gurdaspur district, Maqbool Ahmad, who had played a significant role in moving Suman’s application in different offices informed that earlier Suman’s visa was denied due to Covid-19 restrictions. Similarly, he said, Amit and his family member also didn’t get visas to travel to neighbouring country.
