Mumbai: Following complaints from several transporters in Maharashtra, the minister of state for home and transport Satej Patil has stepped in and assured them not a single heavy goods vehicle driver will be harassed by cops. "I have taken the issue seriously. The transporters say that they are harassed for not renewing documents, licences, etc. But the government has already given an extension for document renewal to domestic goods carriers and public transport buses till September 30. This will be strictly implemented," Patil said. He assured the transporters that there would be no harassment by police for the non-renewal of the documents till the extended date. In a tweet, Patil said "Police personnel through their department heads have been directed to consider the extension given for the renewal while examining the documents. The police department will ensure that the examination of the documents does not lead to the harassment of these transporters."
