Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh left Imphal today after attending a meeting of the State core committee at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
During the meeting it is reliably learnt that the core committee discussed the possibility of the BJP taking in some former and present Congress MLAs, said a source while talking to The Sangai Express.
During his 3 days visit, BL Santhosh discussed election strategies with BJP MLAs and discussed steps to be taken up to ensure the party's victory in the 12th Assembly elections, which is due in the early part of 2022 .
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), State unit president A Sharda Devi, in a press briefing at Nityaipat Chuthek, stated that some meetings of the party State executive and core committee were held in the presence of BL Santhosh to strengthen BJP, Manipur unit and to chalk out strategies for the forthcoming elections.
Announcing that the State unit of the saffron party has officially started preparing for the forthcoming elections, she added that the party members as per its policy have also agreed to consider fielding women candidates in the Assembly and local body elections.
She also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National president for appointing her as the president of the State unit.
Continuing that BL Santhosh's three days visit to Manipur was based on the idea of Seva Hi Sangathan, Sharda Devi maintained that Santhosh, during his stay in Imphal had appealed to the people, including pregnant women, to get vaccinated against Covid.
Appealing to all to get vaccinated without any hesitation, she added that vaccination is the only means to take the fight to the virus.
Commenting on the party preparations for the 12th Assembly elections, she maintained that the party workers have started surveying to confirm whether the schemes implemented by the State Government reach the beneficiaries.
During the survey, it has come to light that the schemes of the Government reach the majority of the beneficiaries, Sharda said and added that workers at the booth level are working to make sure those who are left out due to varied reasons also get the benefits.
Saying that the long-cherished dream of implementing Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in the State has been delivered since the coming of the incumbent BJP Government led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, A Sharda said that the indigenous people now feel more secure.
Further stating that conditions of National Highways, State Highways and inter-village roads have also been improved considerably since the coming of the BJP led Government, Sharda asserted that the incumbent Government has given benefits of Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) and others to the people.
She also stated that frequent imposition of bandhs and blockades in the State has also dropped noticeably with the coming of the BJP led Government.
