Kyndryl is the independent public company to be created following the separation of IBM’s managed infrastructure services business. The company has now announced its appointment of Kerry Purcell to the position of president, Australia and New Zealand.

The move is a natural fit for Purcell who previously occupied the role of managing director for IBM Australia and New Zealand, before moving to Vice President of business development for IBM Japan, and then general manager of global technology services for IBM.

“Kyndryl will organise around our customers and ensure we are providing access to senior leadership and the best talent and skills in each market,” said Kyndryl chief executive officer Martin Schroeter. “Kerry has deep expertise creating value for customers by helping them optimise their performance through Artificial Intelligence and automation and has gained critical local knowledge in this region. Having an experienced leader like Kerry in Australia and New Zealand positions Kyndryl strongly in a market that is key to our long-term strategy.”

“Supporting our customers’ technological transformations is a great responsibility because these are the vital systems that power human progress,” Purcell said. “I am excited to address our customers’ toughest challenges and help lead and grow Kyndryl in this important region."

Kyndrl also announced its organisation into six global practices focusing on Cloud, Core Enterprise and zCloud, Applications, Data and AI, Digital Workplace, Security and Resiliency, and Network and Edge.

Both IBM and Kyndryl noted the IBM global technology services business will continue operating with business as usual until responsibility passes to the Kyndryl team, expected to occur by the end of 2021.
