The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended invitations to join the organization to 395 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures.
They include Janet Jackson and H.E.R. , who were invited to join the Academy from the music category.
Janet Jackson, who is also an actress, is particularly noted for two of her movies: John Singleton's Poetic Justice and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?
She starred in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?, while her song "Again" was used in the closing credits of Poetic Justice and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
The Academy has mentioned Judas and the Black Messiah and The Photograph alongside H.E.R.'s name.
The singer-songwriter's "Fight for You," from Judas and the Black Messiah, won the Oscar award this year for Best Original Song.
