NAGAON, July 3: State water resource minister and also the guardian minister of the district Pijush Hazarika on Saturday visited Nagaon and held a review meeting with the officials of the district administration as well as officials from various departments at the DC’s conference hall.
During the meeting, the minister took stock of the Covid scenario from the officials concerned and instructed superintendent of police Anand Mishra to take strict measures against those who flout the Covid protocols in the district. Besides, he directed the officials concerned to ensure massive Covid test as well as Covid vaccination in the red zone areas as early as possible.
He also reviewed the progress of ongoing various projects in the district under Jhala Jiban Mission scheme and took information from the officials of district public health engineering department.
BJP MLAs Rupak Sarma and Jitu Goswami, deputy commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan, superintendent of police Anand Mishra, officials from district health services and district public health engineering department were present in the review meeting, a release issued by DIPRO added.
Meanwhile three more people including a female died of Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the death toll in the district to 93. These three people were undergoing treatment in hospital after being affected by the virus.
The people who succumbed to the virus are Hatem Ali (85) of Lutumari in Kochuwa area, Khargeswari Laskar (22) of Borkula and Doti Tanti (45) of Borghat in Salna area.
Meanwhile 104 fresh people tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday in the district, taking the total cumulatively active Covid cases in the district to 1,797. Besides, 79 people who were undergoing treatment in hospital as well as at homes, have recovered on the day from the infection of the virus.
Among those who tested positive on Saturday, 94 were admitted to hospital as well as other Covid care centres while the rest were put under home isolation, sources said adding that Rapid Antigen Test was conducted on 8,023 people on Saturday while RT-PCR test was conducted on 94 swab samples.
