Delhi: Stadiums and sports centers reopened; cinema theatres to stay closed

The additional flexibilities will come into force at 5 a.m. on Monday, and the prohibitions and restrictions will be in effect until 5 a.m. on July 12.

According to a DDMA order issued on Sunday, the Delhi government has approved the reopening of stadiums and sports facilities without crowds as of Monday.

When it comes to opening stadiums and sports facilities, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has stated that strict adherence to rules and procedures and other government guidelines, as well as adherence with COVID-19 acceptable behaviour, will be enforced.

Cinemas, multiplexes, swimming pools, spas, schools and colleges, as well as social, political, cultural, religious, and other similar gatherings, would continue to be outlawed, according to the directive.

The Delhi Metro and public transit vehicles will continue to function at a 50% capacity.

Last Monday, the DDMA approved the opening of half-capacity gyms and yoga institutions, as well as marriages at banquets and wedding halls and hotel with a 50 per cent capacity restriction. The forbidden and confined activities will be enforced until 5 a.m. on July 12, according to the directive.

On Saturday, the local health agency reported 86 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths, according to a daily bulletin. Since April, the frequency cases has become less than 100 for the third day in a row.

In a much more encouraging trend, the national capital’s positivity rate has fallen to 0.11 per cent, with 1,016 active cases in the city.
