THANE: A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death by an unknown person at
Kalyan railway station in Maharashtra's Thane district on Saturday morning.
Following the incident, the
Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) registered a murder case against an unidentified person with the help of
CCTV footage. The GRP said that the victim, who is yet to be identified, worked as a ragpicker at Kalyan railway station and the surrounding areas.
The CCTV footage of the railway station which captured the incident showed that the accused had an argument with the deceased at the end of Platform number 1, towards
CST, where people hardly go. He then stabbed the victim with a knife and fled the spot.
Valmik Shardul, senior police inspector of
Kalyan GRP said, “We have registered a case against the unidentified person and two teams are trying to trace the accused using the CCTV footage."
The shocking incident at one of the busiest railway stations on the Central line in the Mumbai division has now raised questions over the security system.
