Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Suspecting illicit relationship between his wife and father, man hacked the duo to death in Jabalpur late on Friday night.

The incident was reported at village Gokalahar under Belkheda police station, around 65 km from Jabalpur district headquarters. The police have arrested the accused, who has reportedly confessed to have committed the crime.

The accused has been identified as Santosh Lodhi, 35. According to police sources, the accused hacked his wife and father, who was sleeping to death, in front of his two children. He went to his uncle’s house and asked him to inform the police about the incident.

His uncle, Arjun Lodhi, who lives next door, informed the police. Police officials said that the accused was arrested from his home and also recovered an axe used in crime.

In police interrogation, the accused claimed that his father and wife had an illicit relationship. “He told us that he had seen his wife and father in an objectionable position two days ago. He had persuaded his wife. On Friday late night, he also spotted the duo in a room. This irked him so much that he killed them,” said a police officer, who was involved in interrogation of the accused.

The officer said that the accused had got married about 16 years ago and the couple had two children. “The children have been handed over to the accused's relatives,” he said.

Superintendent of police (SP), Jabalpur, Siddharth Bahuguna said that the postmortem would be conducted today. “The accused is being interrogated. He will be produced in court soon,” he said.
