I've said this in the past and I will say it in the future too HBO makes solid shows that don't fade over time quite easily. This is strictly not a thriller show although the show is based on solving a murder the level of drama built around the crime was exceptional and brilliant. This is what makes HBO shows stand out from other contemporary cliched shows other platforms and cable TV's make.

Kate Winslet plays the titular role of the show as a cop trying to solve a murder and missing girl in a remote town where she has as "a not so good reputation". Kate Winslet has lots on her plate since she is trying to cope up with the loss of her son and trying to fight against the custody for her grandson against her mother and her shitty relationship. Kate was brilliant and her past performances in many of her notable works this is a cakewalk for her as she was too perfect.
 

The other great thing about the show was that how the lead character Mare was written which was more realistic and convincing and not doing anything that remotely touches the super cop spectrum. He jumps over the fence and gets her ankle twisted and continues to walk injured to some point in the show these are common and loved the way the creators gave the arc for the character.
 

If you are strictly into a crime drama in a small town where people share their own fair of secrets and grudges and willing to enter into the emotional turmoil of the characters then this is a go-to show and worth the watch with an even greater fitting finale to end the show.
