The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) Police have arrested three men for allegedly conspiring and breaking in to a food company and decamping with valuables and cash worth ₹1.10 crore. The accused trio was nabbed on the basis of technical evidence and ₹1.08 crore has been recovered from them. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The owner of a food company in BKC, had brought in cash worth ₹1.10 crore to his office on the 8th floor of a Bandra based building on June 16, and kept it in a drawer. The complainant soon left for his hometown and returned on June 28, only to find the drawer of the table open and the bag of cash missing. He immediately approached the police and lodged a case.
During police investigations, it was revealed that a man wearing a raincoat, a backpack and face covered with a mask had entered the office on June 25, and left with a white bag. Police also noticed that the access was made through an RFD card, which was only given to employees, for which police began looking into the backgrounds of current and former employees.
In the probe, the name of the complainant's driver and an employee Sameer Jadhav cropped up. It also came to light that of the three keys of the office, one was with Jadhav and he was keeping an eye on log in/log out process through RFD card in a CCTV footage, which ascertained his role and he was apprehended. During the interrogation, Jadhav confessed and revealed that the man in raincoat was a former employee-- Aatish Pawar and his friend Siddhesh Sawant had helped him in hatching the conspiracy.
Subsequently, police made three arrests and recovered ₹1,08,50,000 from them. All the accused were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for house trespassing, theft and common intention.
