BHOPAL: Suspecting an illicit relationship between his wife and father, a man hacked the duo to death in Jabalpur late on Friday night. The police have arrested the accused. The incident was reported from Gokalahar village, under Belkheda police station, around 65 km from the Jabalpur district headquarters.

Superintendent of police, Jabalpur, Siddharth Bahuguna said that the accused, Santosh Lodhi, 35, had killed his father, Aman Singh Lodhi, 65, and wife, Kavita Lodhi, 32, in front of his two children with an axe. After committing the crime, he went to his uncle’s house and asked him to inform the police about the incident.

His uncle, Arjun Lodhi, who lives next door, informed the police, who arrested the accused from his home and also seized the axe used in the crime.

During police interrogation, the accused claimed that his father and wife had an illicit relationship. “He told us that he had seen his wife and father in an objectionable position two days ago. Late on Friday night, he spotted the duo in a room. This angered him so much that he killed them,” said a police officer, who was involved in the interrogation of the accused.

The officer said that the accused had got married about 16 years ago and the couple had two children—a boy of 11 years and a girl of 8 years. “The custody of children has been handed over to the accused’s relatives,” he said.

The post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday and the bodies were handed over to the family members.
