Kolkata: At a time when the saffron camp is holding Trinamool Congress responsible for the fake jab scam in Kolkata, TMC once again got into controversy on Saturday after the deputy Mayor of Asansol Tabassum Ara without having any medical degree or experience gave jabs to people herself.

Criticizing the move, BJP Asansol (south) MLA Agnimitra Paul said that during the TMC regime everyone gets the liberty to do unscrupulous things.

“Under TMC regime people get a free pass to open fake vaccination camps and now without any degree or training the TMC leaders started vaccinating people,” stated Agnimitra.

Union Minister of State Babul Supriyo took to Twitter and wrote, “Seems like TMC govt has no control over its administrators. TMC's Tabassum Ara, a member of the administrative body of AMC, has vaccinated people herself and risked hundreds of lives…Will her political colour shield her from stern punishment?”

Meanwhile, despite being seen giving jabs to people, Tabassum said that just to create awareness she just held the syringe.

“I didn’t give anyone any jabs. I had just held the syringe to promote awareness. Moreover, I had done nursing training during my school days,” mentioned Tabassum.

However, after mounting pressure, Asansol Municipal Corporation chairman Amarnath Chatterjee sent a show-cause notice not just to Tabassum but also one doctor and two nurses who were present there.

TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy said that necessary actions will be taken in the Asansol issue.

On the other side, another arrest was made by Kolkata Police over the fake vaccination camp.

“One Indrajit Shaw was arrested and will be under police custody as he confessed he was instrumental in opening a fake camp at North Kolkata’s Amherst Street area,” mentioned the police sources.

Meanwhile, in Tarakeswar an 80-year-old man was denied a second dose of vaccination as his son is a BJP supporter. However, the TMC denied such allegations.
