The BJP-led government in Uttarakhand is presently going through an upheaval of sorts as Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat handed in his resignation after a mere four months at the helm. But with Uttarakhand set to choose it's third Chief Minister during the same five year term, Opposition leaders have been vocal in their criticism.

Leading the hullabaloo online are various social media handles affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party and its leaders. In the hours since news of Rawat's resignation broke, the party has repeatedly taken potshots at the former CM. While some claimed that he had been "scared" by the AAP "challenge" in the upcoming elections, the party's main handle released a poll wondering how long the tenure of the next chief Minister would be.

Others still busied itself creating cause and effect videos and posts, claiming that the party's decision to field Colonel Ajay Kothiyal (retd) against Rawat in the Gangotri bypolls had made him resign.

"Ye darr accha laga," the party handle jibed.

"Fact: Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat ran away in fear from 'Bhole Ke Fauji' Colonel Ajay Kothiyal!" claimed another post.

Several AAP leaders and lawmakers have also taken to social media platforms to amplify the claim and take potshots at the BJP. "If there is a competition with the honest and brave, the BJP runs away. AAP declared Colonel Ajay Kothyal its candidate against CM, then CM Tirath Singh Rawat resigned and left," contended Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.
