Tucker Carlson Calls Kamala Harris a 'Power Hungry Buffoon,' Says She Acts Like President
Tucker Carlson has branded Vice President Kamala Harris a "power hungry buffoon" who may have a lot of power as a result of what he called President Joe Biden's "senility."
The Fox News personality told his prime-time audience on Friday that the vice president "has no idea what she's doing" and he pointed to a Politico report about the culture in her office.
That report cited 22 current and former vice presidential aides, who remained anonymous, and painted a picture of a dysfunctional work environment where some are already seeking other employment opportunities less than six months into the administration, while others have already left.
Carlson took aim at Harris during his show's opening monologue, which was also published as an op-ed on the Fox News website.
He highlighted an article Harris wrote for The Washington Post on February 12 about women leaving the workforce during the pandemic.
At the time, she called the "mass exodus" of 2.5 million women from the U.S workforce a "national emergency."
Carlson said it "seemed weird" for Harris to declare a national emergency as that is usually the president's job and he cited the Politico article as evidence that Harris was actually contributing to the problem she'd identified in February.
"In fact, there's now a mass exodus of women from Kamala Harris' own staff. The toxic masculinity is coming from inside the house. This week, Politico reported, several top female Harris staffers have quit after being abused," Carlson said.
Carlson quoted directly from one anonymous staffer who alleged the vice president's office was "not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated." Politico described this person as someone who has "direct knowledge" about how Harris's office is run.
The Fox News host then went on to offer more general criticism of Harris and brought up questions about President Joe Biden's mental capacity. However, he said anyone who said Harris "has no idea what she's doing" would be criticized.
"Point out that she's a power-hungry buffoon posing as a competent adult, and they will instantly denounce you as a racist," Carlson said.
"They do this because it works. A lot of people, particularly in the news media, still find the idea of being called a racist the scariest thing they can imagine. Scarier than dying.
"So they will do anything to avoid it, including ignoring Kamala Harris' obvious mediocrity. So they barely cover her. Kamala Harris may be one of the least impressive people in public life, but on some days it seems like she's running our country anyway."
He cited Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador calling Harris "president" because they had a good meeting during her trip to the country and an incident where Biden referred to her as "president."
"The President of the United States calls her president," he said.
Carlson suggested that it is "demonstrably true" that Biden is in "decline" and he asked who's in charge of the country if the president isn't. Claims about the president's mental health have not been substantiated.
"Increasingly, it seems like Kamala Harris is running things," he said. "If you believe in democracy, this is a problem. No large group of people has ever wanted to put Harris in control of the country."
Carlson concluded: "Biden's senility means an awful lot of power for Kamala Harris."
Newsweek has asked the White House and Vice President Harris' office for comment.
