Actress Phylicia Rashad — who played Clair Huxtable on “The Cosby Show — apologized on Friday for her tweet celebrating the overturning of Bill Cosby’s sexual-assault conviction.
“I offer my most sincere apology. I have since removed that upsetting tweet, ” she wrote in an email to Howard University students and parents that was itself shared on Twitter.
Rashad is the incoming dean of the university’s College of Fine Arts.
The university on Thursday said her tweet “lacked sensitivity.”
Rashad said in her email that she would “participate in trainings to not only reinforce University protocol and conduct, but also to learn how I can become a stronger ally to sexual assault survivors.”
