Bhikangaon: With every passing day, Bhikangaon police are making new revelations in Janpad Panchayat CEO Rajesh Baheti suicide case.
According to local police Baheti has purchased a rope from Khandwa-road situated hardware shop on June 25, two days before he was found dead at his official residence in Bhikangaon tehsil of Khargone district.
CEO Baheti was found hanging by neck at his official residence late on June 27. The police have registered a case and started an investigation. Police have recovered suicide note from spot.
Bahoti has mentioned names of some senior government officials and a contractor who is reportedly associated with the ruling BJP.
Investigation team is going through each and every phone call details. Besides, a team of forensic science laboratory has roped in handwriting experts to examine the suicide note.
Police are also scanning Baheti's WhatsApp and social media accounts.
However, the mobile of the accused has not been confiscated nor has the call details of their mobile numbers been called, said a source.
Meanwhile, the probe has revealed that on the very day when Baheti purchased a rope, he had enquired with his driver that is there is any medicine that a man can drink and die instantly. The driver responded in negative. After this, Baheti bought a rope from the shop and hanged himself with the same rope at his official residence on June 27.
The police have also questioned the driver and the hardware shop owner. The scene of alleged suicide was also recreated.
The cops have received the post-mortem report of Baheti. The post-mortem report does not state any signs of conflict, injury or scuffle.
After probing the case from all angles, the police have found it to be the case of suicide; however, the police are also investigating the case by focusing on other points.
Meanwhile, Dhannalal Khatwase and Dulichand Banke have been detained by Bhikangaon police. Police sources claimed that during interrogation they regretted what happened in the past and said that they did not expect that Baheti would take an extreme step. The duo has admitted to be in touch with Baheti but have denied torturing him.
They also told the police that if Baheti had a problem, he should have complained, but committing suicide was wrong on his part. At present both are cooling their heels in the district jails in Khargone. Sources said, there they have been kept in the Quarantine Barracks for 15 days where new prisoners are kept.
